First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union, a member-owned credit union headquartered in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, recently disclosed that its vendor partner, TruStage, experienced a cybersecurity incident.
The credit union posted a notice on its website alerting members that TruStage services were temporarily unavailable due to systems outages.
TruStage detected a cyberattack affecting its environment and proactively shut down its network to contain the threat and protect its systems. TruStage first disclosed the incident on July 15, 2026, stating that it had recently identified a cybersecurity incident affecting its environment.
The network shutdown temporarily disrupted some of the insurance services that TruStage provides through its credit union partners, including First Commonwealth. The affected services included the ability to submit claims for GAP insurance, mechanical repair coverage and payment protection products.
As a result of the service disruptions, members of First Commonwealth and other credit unions were temporarily unable to access certain insurance services through TruStage.
As of July 17, 2026, TruStage has not disclosed the specific types of personal information that may have been accessed during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and TruStage has indicated it will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
First Commonwealth posted a notice, directing members to TruStage's FAQ page for more information.
TruStage launched new online resources to help consumers access information about the incident and take action. These resources include a FAQ page with up-to-date information and a page where consumers can initiate a claim.
Members should watch for further communications from both First Commonwealth and TruStage as the investigation progresses.
