Kings United Way Data Breach Exposes Social Security Numbers

Kings United Way, a nonprofit organization based in Hanford, California, disclosed a data breach that occurred in August 2026 and exposed sensitive personal information including Social Security numbers.

The breach was disclosed to the California Attorney General on Sept. 25, 2026. Kings United Way began mailing notification letters on Sept. 25, 2026.

On Aug. 26, 2026, Kings United Way discovered that sensitive personal information had been inadvertently posted to a data sharing platform.

Kings United Way reviewed the potentially exposed data and determined that the information posted included names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers.

Affected individuals may include people who used the services of Kings United Way or one of its partner organizations.

Kings United Way's response to the breach

The organization is providing affected individuals with fully managed identity theft recovery services through IDX. Affected individuals are automatically covered and do not need to take any action to enroll.

Anyone who experiences an identity theft issue can call IDX at 1-833-788-9712 for assistance. IDX's Certified Recovery Advocates are available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time.

The organization also urged affected individuals to remain vigilant by reviewing their financial account statements and credit reports for any fraudulent or irregular activity over the next 24 months.
