
World Acceptance Corp. (WAC), a consumer finance company headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, disclosed a data breach that involved unauthorized access to its computer network.
On Aug. 24, 2026, the company discovered an unknown party gained unauthorized access to its network environment. Upon discovering the unauthorized activity, the company began an investigation with third-party cybersecurity specialists to understand the scope of the incident.
On or about Sept. 8, 2026, the company determined that certain personal information may have been involved in the incident. The personal information potentially exposed included names, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers.
The incident has impacted at least 51,073 Texas residents and 15 Massachusetts residents.
World Acceptance posted a notice of the incident on its website and notified state attorney generals of the incident starting on Sept. 30, 2026.
World Acceptance is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services through Epiq Privacy Solutions ID.
To enroll in the free credit monitoring, affected individuals can visit www.privacysolutionsid.com, click "Activate Account" and enter the activation code provided in their notification letter. After completing the identity verification process, enrollees will receive a confirmation email with a link to access their account. An enrollment deadline was included in each individual's notification letter.
World Acceptance has also established a dedicated toll-free response line for individuals with questions about the incident. The response line is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time and can be reached at the phone number included in the notification letters sent to affected individuals.
