Magna Hospitality Data Breach: 385 GB of Data Stolen

Magna Hospitality Group, a privately held hotel real estate investment firm headquartered in Warwick, Rhode Island, disclosed a data breach resulting from a ransomware attack on its computer systems.

The breach was reported to the California Attorney General on Oct. 13, 2026. Magna Hospitality Group notified affected consumers by written notice.

Between May 22, 2025, and May 24, 2025, an unauthorized actor gained access to certain company systems. During this window, the intruder copied certain files from the compromised systems.

After discovering the suspicious activity on May 24, 2025, the company launched an investigation into the nature and scope of the intrusion. Magna Hospitality Group then conducted a thorough review of the affected files to determine what personal information they contained and to identify the individuals whose data was involved.

The ransomware group known as Qilin later claimed responsibility for the attack. On Oct. 22, 2025, the group posted on its dark web portal hosted on the Tor network. Qilin claimed to have obtained 385 GB of data from Magna Hospitality Group.

So far, the types of consumer information confirmed as exposed in the breach included names.

The company is offering complimentary access to Experian IdentityWorks, a credit monitoring and identity theft protection service.
