Gallagher Transport Data Breach Exposes Social Security Numbers

Gallagher Transport International Inc., a Denver, Colorado-based customs broker and global logistics provider, disclosed a data breach that so far impacted 1,097 Texas residents and 14 Vermont residents.

Gallagher Transport posted a notice of the data privacy event on its website, as well as filed disclosures with the attorneys general offices of California, Texas and Vermont.

On Jan. 11, 2026, an unauthorized third party gained access to certain systems within Gallagher Transport's network and copied files from the company's computer systems. The company detected the suspicious activity on the same day and began responding to the incident.

On Jan. 27, 2026, a ransomware group known as Sinobi publicly claimed responsibility for the attack. The claim was posted on a dark web, claiming to have obtained 100 GB of data from Gallagher Transport, including financial data, incidents and contracts. The group indicated it intended to publish the stolen information within eight to nine days.

After the affected files were identified, Gallagher Transport began a comprehensive review to determine what personal information the files contained and to whom the information related. The review was completed on Sept. 9, 2026.

The types of personal information potentially exposed varied by individual but may have included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, passport numbers, financial account information, customs assigned numbers, driver's license or state ID numbers, taxpayer ID numbers, electronic or digital signatures and biometric data.

Gallagher Transport's response to the breach

Gallagher Transport encourages affected individuals to remain vigilant by reviewing account statements, credit reports and explanations of benefits for unusual activity and to detect errors. The company also encourages people to report any suspicious activity to their credit card company, bank, healthcare or insurance provider, or other applicable institution.

Gallagher Transport has set up a toll-free assistance line for individuals seeking additional information about the breach. Affected individuals can call 1-833-544-7492, available Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. EST, excluding major U.S. holidays.
