Saber Healthcare Data Breach Exposes Sensitive PHI and PII

Saber Healthcare Inc., a long-term care and senior care company headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, disclosed a data breach after discovering unauthorized activity in its computer systems on July 27, 2026.

Saber Healthcare posted a notice about the incident on its website on Sept. 25, 2026. The total number of individuals affected across the United States has not been disclosed, although at least 3,025 South Carolina residents, 269 Texas residents and 25 Vermont residents were impacted.

On July 27, 2026, Saber Healthcare detected unauthorized activity in its computer systems. The company then took action to begin investigating the event after the activity was discovered.

The investigation confirmed that certain information may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual or individuals.

The personally identifiable information (PII) that may have been accessed included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license or state-issued identification numbers, financial data, passport numbers and other government ID numbers and biometric information.

In addition, protected health information (PHI) was potentially accessed, including health insurance information, treatment information, medical information and health records.

The company's notice directed affected individuals to contact the three major credit reporting bureaus to place fraud alerts or credit freezes. Individuals who believe they may have been impacted should consider taking steps to secure their or their loved one's data.
