Atlantic Digestive Specialists, a gastroenterology practice in New Hampshire, disclosed a data security incident that may have exposed patients' personal and protected health information.

In March 2026, Atlantic Digestive Specialists was alerted to suspicious activity on its network. An investigation was initiated to determine the full nature and scope of the event.

The investigation found that some information may have been viewed or acquired without authorization between March 16, 2026, and March 17, 2026. The company then conducted a comprehensive review of all potentially affected data.

The review concluded in August 2026 and determined that personal and protected health information was contained in the data that may have been accessed.

The personally identifiable information that may have been exposed includes first and last name, Social Security number, driver's license or state identification number, date of birth, financial account information, payment card information, alien registration number, taxpayer identification number, passport number, username and password information, and digital or electronic signature.

The protected health information that may have been exposed includes clinical information, diagnosis, medical history, medical record number, medical treatment and procedure information, mental or physical condition, prescription information, Medicaid or Medicare number, medical cost, medical dates of service, medical provider name, patient account number and health insurance policy-related number.

Atlantic Digestive Specialists posted a notice of the data security incident on its website and stated that notifications to potentially affected individuals are set to begin on Sept. 30, 2026.

Atlantic Digestive Specialists' response to the breach

The company completed its process of locating contact information for affected individuals on Sept. 8, 2026, and arranged for notification at that time.

Atlantic Digestive Specialists has set up a toll-free call center to answer questions about the incident and address related concerns. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding U.S. holidays, and can be reached at 1-866-200-0962.
