
Camden-on-Gauley Medical Center, a West Virginia nonprofit health center that operates under the name Camden Family Health, recently disclosed a data breach that affected individuals in the United States.
The breach was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Sept. 15, 2026. The health center posted a notice on its website.
On July 18, 2026, Camden-on-Gauley Medical Center became aware of suspicious activity related to its computer systems. The health center responded by launching an investigation to determine what had occurred and whether any patient information had been affected.
Through that investigation, the health center determined that certain patient information could have been copied from its network without permission by an unknown actor on July 18, 2026.
The types of information potentially affected by the breach include individuals' medical information and health insurance information.
Camden-on-Gauley Medical Center is providing guidance about free resources that individuals can use to monitor their accounts and credit reports. The notification includes instructions on how to place fraud alerts or credit freezes through Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
