Pilgrim Title Data Breach Compromises Government IDs and Financial Account Information

Pilgrim Title & Closing Services LLC, along with affiliated entities Pilgrim Title Insurance Company and Montalbano, Belliveau & St. Sauveur LLP, disclosed a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal and financial information.

Pilgrim reported that a data security incident may have involved the personal information of certain individuals. The notification did not specify when the incident occurred or when it was first discovered.

The personally identifiable information potentially exposed in this incident included first and last names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, government identification numbers, financial account codes and credit and debit account information.

The breach was disclosed to the attorneys general offices of Massachusetts and Vermont on Sept. 8, 2026. Pilgrim began notifying affected individuals by letter dated Sept. 30, 2026.

The incident has so far impacted 63 residents of Massachusetts.

Pilgrim's response to the breach

The company is offering affected individuals 24 months of free credit monitoring through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

To enroll in the free credit monitoring, affected individuals must visit the Cyberscout enrollment page and enter the unique code included in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the letter.

Individuals who enroll may be asked to verify personal information to confirm their identity as part of the sign-up process. Pilgrim recommends enrolling from a personal device. Due to state and federal privacy laws, the company stated it cannot enroll individuals directly, so affected consumers must sign up on their own.

The company has also established a support line for questions about the credit monitoring services, available between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The phone number is included in the notification letter.
