
Deer Management Co. LLC, doing business as Bessemer Venture Partners, an SEC-registered investment adviser based in Larchmont, New York, disclosed a data breach that occurred in August 2026.
On Aug. 3, 2026, Bessemer Venture Partners was the target of a voice phishing incident.
Upon detection, BVP moved to contain the situation. A forensic investigation confirmed that the incident was fully contained as of Aug. 4, 2026.
The investigation determined that the breach affected records stored in certain cloud-hosted platforms used by BVP. The personal information exposed included names and Social Security numbers.
A filing with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on Sept. 30, 2026, identified 82 Massachusetts residents as affected by the breach.
BVP is offering affected individuals two years of free credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX. To activate the services, individuals can visit the IDX enrollment page or scan the QR code included in the letter. The enrollment deadline is Dec. 30, 2026.
BVP has also set up a dedicated phone line at 1-833-788-9712 for questions about the incident. Knowledgeable representatives are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding holidays.
The company encouraged affected individuals to review their BVP account statements regularly and to report any suspicious activities immediately. BVP also emphasized that individuals should never open links or attachments from untrusted sources.
