Zaxis Financial Services Americas LLC, a captive finance company that provides loans and leases for Hitachi construction equipment in North America, disclosed a data breach that involved unauthorized access to its network.
On Dec. 30, 2025, Zaxis identified suspicious activity on certain systems within its network. Upon detecting the activity, the company launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident.
The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party had gained access to sensitive information that was contained within the impacted email system. After completing a review of all information that was potentially affected by the incident, the company determined that some individuals' personal information may have been involved.
The types of personal information exposed included names, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers.
The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on Sept. 29, 2026.
Zaxis is providing affected individuals with complimentary access to Iris Identity Protection services.
Affected individuals can enroll in the identity protection services by visiting the Iris Identity Protection enrollment page and entering the case-sensitive promo code provided in their notification letter. The deadline to enroll is 90 days from the date of the letter.
The company encouraged affected individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing their personal information and monitoring their free credit reports for any suspicious activity over the next 12 to 24 months.
