Consumers who purchased, received, were given or owned a Shimano Ultegra or Dura-Ace crankset—or a bicycle equipped with one—manufactured before July 2019 in the United States may qualify to claim reimbursement for certain out-of-pocket costs or receive an extended warranty or enhanced inspection from a class action settlement.
Shimano North America Bicycle Inc. and Shimano North America Holding Inc. The lawsuit alleged breaches of warranties and concerns about the advertising, marketing and recall of certain Hollowtech II cranksets.

Why is there a class action settlement?
The plaintiffs filed the class action lawsuit after Shimano issued a voluntary recall in September 2023 for certain Hollowtech II cranksets manufactured before July 2019. They claimed Shimano and the other defendants breached warranties and failed to adequately advertise and market the products or the recall.
The defendants denied all allegations and any wrongdoing. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the risks, costs and delays of continued litigation.
