
Consumers who received a notice from Frontier Communications Parent Inc. in or around June 2024 stating a data breach may have impacted their private information on or about April 14, 2024, may qualify to claim up to $5,000 from a class action settlement.
Frontier Communications Parent Inc. agreed to pay $5.64 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it failed to adequately protect the private information of individuals who applied for residential services. The lawsuit claims an unauthorized third party accessed files containing names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and other personally identifiable information.
Who can file a claim?
Class members must meet all of the following criteria:
- They are a living individual residing in the United States.
- They received a notice from Frontier Communications Parent Inc. in or around June 2024 stating a data breach that occurred on or about April 14, 2024, may have impacted their private information.
How much can class members get?
- Cash Payment A – Documented losses: Up to $5,000 per class member for out-of-pocket expenses or losses related to the data breach with required documentation. Eligible expenses may include:
- Unreimbursed bank fees (such as overdraft or late fees)
- Postage
- Gasoline for local travel
- Fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or identity theft insurance purchased between April 14, 2024 and the claim deadline
- Other incidental expenses
- Cash Payment B – Flat cash: Estimated $100 for class members who do not claim documented losses
- Credit monitoring: Two years of free credit monitoring in addition to either cash payment.
All payments are subject to pro rata adjustment, meaning the actual amount class members receive may be higher or lower depending on the total number of valid claims submitted.
How to claim a settlement payment
Class members can file a claim online or download, print, complete and mail the PDF claim form to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Oct. 27, 2025.

Is proof or documentation required to submit a claim?
- All class members must provide the unique ID located on the settlement notice they received. Online claimants must also provide the PIN from the same notice.
- To claim documented losses (Cash Payment A), class members must provide receipts, statements or other records showing the expense resulted from the data breach. Self-prepared documents are not sufficient on their own but can be used to supplement other documentation.
- To claim the flat cash payment (Cash Payment B) and/or credit monitoring, class members do not need to provide documentation and only need to select the appropriate option.

$5.64 million settlement fund breakdown
The $5,640,000 settlement fund covers:

- Attorneys' fees: Up to $1,880,000
- Service awards to class representatives: Up to $2,500 each
- Credit monitoring costs: Dependent on number of claims
- Payments to eligible class members: The remainder of the fund

When is the Frontier data breach settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will distribute payments and credit monitoring instructions approximately 75 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement and resolves any appeals.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged Frontier Communications Parent Inc. detected a data breach on or about April 14, 2024, which may have exposed names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and other personal information of individuals who applied for residential services. The plaintiffs claimed the company failed to adequately protect private information, leading to claims of negligence, breach of contract, invasion of privacy and violations of consumer protection laws.
Frontier Communications Parent Inc. denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risks, costs and time associated with continued litigation.
