Consumers whose private information was potentially compromised in the DG3 North America Inc. data breach discovered in or around March 2024 may qualify to claim up to $2,500 or other benefits from a class action settlement.

Diversified Global Graphics Group North America Inc., along with John Hancock Investment Management LLC and UBS Financial Services Inc., agreed to pay $600,000 to settle a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges the companies failed to adequately protect private information, resulting in a data incident that exposed sensitive data.

Who can file a DG3 claim?

Class embers are eligible to file a claim if they meet the following criteria:

  • They reside in the United States.
  • Their private information was potentially compromised as a result of the DG3 data incident discovered in or around March 2024.

There are two groups within the settlement class:

  • Group 1 settlement subclass: Individuals whose Social Security number was included in the compromised information.
  • Group 2 settlement subclass: Individuals whose Social Security number was not included in the compromised information.

How much is the data breach payout?

  • Reimbursement for documented losses: Up to $2,500 per person for unreimbursed costs or losses related to the data breach. This includes expenses from identity theft, fraud, falsified tax returns, credit monitoring or identity theft protection purchased after Jan. 30, 2024, and other related expenses, such as notary or postage.
  • Alternative cash payment: Class members who do not claim documented losses may claim an alternative cash payment:
    • Up to $100 for Group 1 settlement subclass members (Social Security number compromised).
    • Up to $50 for Group 2 settlement subclass members (Social Security number not compromised).
  • Credit monitoring: All class members can claim up to three years of free credit monitoring regardless of whether they claim reimbursement or an alternative cash payment.

If the total value of approved claims exceeds the net settlement fund, payments will be reduced on a pro rata basis.

How to claim a class action rebate

Class members can file a claim online or download, print and complete the PDF claim form.pdf) and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Sept. 25, 2025.

What proof and documentation is required to submit a claim?

  • For reimbursement of documented losses claims, class members must provide reasonable documentation, such as receipts, bank statements or other records showing their out-of-pocket expenses related to the data incident. Self-prepared documents like handwritten receipts alone are not sufficient but can be included for context.
  • To file an online claim, class members must provide the unique ID and PIN located on their settlement notice. To mail in the claim form, class members must provide their unique ID.

Payout options

Once the settlement is approved, class members who submit a timely and valid claim for payment will receive an email from noreply@epiqpay.com to the email they provided on the claim form. This email will ask them to select their method of payment, including Venmo, ACH, PayPal or paper check. 

Class members who request credit monitoring will receive instructions and an activation code by email or mail.

$600,000 cybersecurity settlement fund breakdown

The $600,000 settlement fund covers:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys' fees: Up to $200,000
  • Attorneys' expenses: To be determined
  • Service awards to class representatives: Up to $2,500 each
  • Credit monitoring costs: To be determined
  • Payments to eligible class members: The remainder of the net settlement fund

  • Final approval hearing: Oct. 14, 2025

When is the DG3 data breach litigation payout date?

Payments and benefits will be distributed approximately 105 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement and all appeals, if any, are resolved.

Why did this class action settlement happen?

The class action lawsuit alleged DG3 North America Inc., John Hancock Investment Management LLC and UBS Financial Services Inc. failed to adequately protect private information, leading to a data breach between Jan. 30, 2024, and March 19, 2024. The plaintiffs claimed negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act.

The defendants deny all allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risks and costs of continued litigation.
