Mister Guns, a full-service firearms retailer with multiple locations in the Dallas, Texas, area, disclosed a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information belonging to thousands of consumers.
The breach was reported to the Texas Attorney General on March 25, 2026. According to the filing, 19,662 Texas residents were identified as affected by the incident.
On Nov. 22, 2025, a ransomware group calling itself Securotrop claimed responsibility for the attack in a posting on the Tor network, a part of the internet often associated with anonymous and illicit activity. The group stated it had obtained 290 gigabytes of Mister Guns' internal data.
Securotrop claimed the stolen information included customer personal details such as names, contact numbers, addresses, customer signatures, financial information and fingerprint files. The group stated it intended to publish the stolen data within six to seven days of its posting.
The public disclosure filed with the Texas Attorney General confirmed the following types to be exposed: names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, government-issued identification numbers (such as passports or state ID cards), dates of birth and other information.
Information concerning whether Mister Guns is offering credit monitoring or identity protection services to those affected has also not been publicly disclosed at this time.
