
JRK Property Holdings Inc., a Los Angeles-based real estate investment and management firm, disclosed a data breach after discovering that an unauthorized party may have accessed files containing sensitive personal and financial information.
On March 26, 2026, the company was alerted to unusual activity involving its information technology environment.
On April 4, 2026, roughly nine days after the unusual activity was first detected, a ransomware group known as The Gentlemen posted a claim on the Tor network. The Gentlemen stated that the group had obtained data belonging to JRK Property Holdings and intended to publish it within five to six days.
The types of personally identifiable information exposed included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and financial accounts.
The total number of people affected by this breach has not been publicly disclosed.
The breach was reported to the New Hampshire and Nebraska attorneys general offices. JRK Property Holdings began notifying affected individuals on May 5, 2026.
JRK is offering affected individuals 12 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Experian IdentityWorks at no cost. The service includes an Experian credit report at signup, daily credit reports for online members, ongoing monitoring of the individual's Experian credit file for signs of fraud and access to identity restoration specialists who can help address credit and non-credit-related fraud.
The coverage also includes $1 million in identity theft insurance for certain costs and unauthorized electronic fund transfers.
