







Form Energy, a developer of long-duration energy storage systems, experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information of current and former employees. On Sept. 16, 2025, the company detected a ransomware attack. An investigation determined that the cyberattack compromised personal information belonging to employees working at Form Energy before and as of Sept. 2023.
Exposed information included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and identification verification documents such as driver's licenses, permanent resident cards, alien registration cards or passports. Form Energy began notifying affected individuals by mail on Oct. 22, 2025.
The data breach was also disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office on Oct. 28, 2025, reporting 622 residents impacted. This type of cybersecurity incident puts individuals at risk for identity theft and financial fraud.
In response to the attack, Form Energy took affected systems offline and engaged cybersecurity experts to investigate and begin remediation steps. In addition to required state and federal disclosures, the company is offering impacted current and former employees a free 24 month Experian IdentityWorks membership. Services provided includes credit monitoring, identity theft protection and identity theft recovery.
