Florida Hand Center, a specialized medical practice serving patients across Southwest Florida, experienced a major data breach. On July 8, 2025, a ransomware group known as RHYSIDA claimed responsibility for a cyberattack and posted on the dark web portal that it had successfully hacked the center’s systems and stolen sensitive data.
It is believed the data breach compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Exposed patient or employee information may include names, dates of birth, contact information, Social Security numbers. Driver's license and state ID numbers, medical records, health insurance details and billing or payment data.
The cybercriminals provided sample screenshots as proof of access, indicating the breach was both significant and targeted. The total number of affected individuals has not been released.
Florida Hand Center will be required to issue mandated state and federal required disclosures and notify affected individuals by mail.
If you believe your personal and protected health information may have been compromised in this breach:

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.
This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
