According to the official Texas Attorney General’s data breach portal, the breach impacted 979 residents of the state. The information exposed included names and Social Security numbers—both considered personally identifiable information (PII).
The exposure of Social Security numbers, in addition to names, significantly increases the risk of identity theft for those impacted. The breach’s scope, affecting nearly a thousand Texans, highlights the seriousness of the incident, especially given the sensitivity of the data involved.
After discovering the breach, Chase Affiliated Companies sent out notifications to affected individuals via U.S. Mail. The notification likely contains details about the breach, what information was compromised and guidance on steps to take to protect personal information
