Why is there a settlement?
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office filed the lawsuit against Wonolo Inc. after an investigation alleged it misclassified temporary laborers as independent contractors instead of employees. The plaintiffs claimed this misclassification led to violations of Illinois wage laws, including unpaid overtime, minimum wage violation and failure to provide required four-hour cancellation payments.
Wonolo denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to avoid the costs and uncertainty of further litigation.
