The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Illinois, representing all state officials and agencies and enforcing laws on behalf of the people of Illinois. The office of the Attorney General also serves as the state’s largest public interest law firm, committed to protecting and advancing the interests of the people of Illinois through leadership, advocacy, and legal representation. Since 2003, the office has brought in more than $12 billion on behalf of the State of Illinois. More than 380 Assistant Attorneys General and over 300 employees serve in the Office of the Attorney General in offices in Chicago, Springfield, and Carbondale as well as regional offices in Rockford, Quincy, Champaign-Urbana, and Belleville.
