Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit was filed after a cyberattack in June 2024 exposed the personal information of Elyria Foundry and Hodge Foundry current and former employees, their spouses, and dependents. Plaintiffs alleged that Elyria failed to adequately protect this information, leading to the breach.
Elyria denied any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense of ongoing litigation.
