On March 18, 2026, Ameriprise discovered that an unauthorized individual had gained access to certain stored data and files. The company immediately launched an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts and blocked the unauthorized access.
Ameriprise reported the breach to the Maine Attorney General's office on April 17, 2026. The company began notifying affected individuals in writing on the same day. In total, 47,876 people in the United States were affected, including 335 in Maine.
