Yes Communities agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging hackers accessed its network and obtained sensitive information during a data breach. The lawsuit alleged the company failed to adequately protect personal data. The potentially exposed information includes Social Security numbers, financial and credit account information, birthdates, driver's license numbers and more.
Who qualifies to file a claim?
Class members are individuals in the United States whose private information the December 2024 data incident involving Yes Communities impacted and who received a mailed notice of the data incident.
How much are settlement payouts?
Class members have the following benefit options:
- Reimbursement for documented losses: Class members can claim up to $2,500 for documented, unreimbursed losses related to fraud or identity theft the data incident caused. Examples of eligible losses include costs for credit monitoring, freezing or unfreezing credit, ID replacement and credit reports.
- Reimbursement for lost time: Class members can claim $20 per hour for up to four hours (maximum $80) for time spent dealing with the consequences of the data incident.
- Alternate cash payment: In lieu of the documented losses and/or lost time payments, class members may claim an estimated $50 as a pro rata cash payment.
- Credit monitoring: All class members can elect to receive three years of credit monitoring through IDX from one credit bureau.
How to claim a class action payout
To receive compensation, class member can file a claim online or download, print and complete the PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator. Class members can also request a claim form by calling the settlement administrator.

The class action lawsuit alleged Yes Communities experienced a ransomware attack between Dec. 9 and 11, 2024. During this incident, hackers accessed and stole unencrypted private information. The plaintiffs claimed Yes Communities failed to adequately protect their data.
