
Spectrum Laboratory Products Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of fine chemicals and laboratory products based in New Brunswick, N.J., has disclosed a data breach involving sensitive personal information.
Founded in 1971, the company serves industries including pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements, cosmetics, electronics, aerospace and laboratory research.
The breach was reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on Aug. 27, 2026. The company mailed letters to affected individuals on Aug. 26, 2026.
The company's notification letter described the incident as a data security incident that affected personal information in its possession. Beyond this, specific details about how the breach occurred, the date or dates during which unauthorized access may have taken place or how the incident was first discovered by the company were not included.
The types of personally identifiable information exposed in the breach included Social Security numbers.
The company is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. Affected individuals can enroll online by using the unique code included in their individual notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the letter in order to receive these services.
