International Shoppes $500,000 Data Breach Settlement

Individuals whose personal information the November 2023 International Shoppes and Diplomatic Duty Free Shops of New York data breach compromised may be eligible to claim up to $4,000 from a class action settlement.

International Shoppes LLC and Diplomatic Duty Free Shops of New York Inc. agreed to pay $500,000 to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging a cyberattack exposed sensitive personal information. The lawsuit claimed the companies failed to adequately protect data, leading to the exposure of names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport details, financial account numbers and health information.

Who can file a claim for a data breach payout?

Class members include individuals residing in the United States whose personal information the December 2023 data incident compromised and who received notice of the data breach from International Shoppes.

How much can class members get?

Class members can claim one or more types of rewards:

• Documented losses: Class members who experienced documented out-of-pocket losses between Nov. 16, 2023, and Nov. 16, 2026, that are related to the data incident can claim up to $4,000. Eligible expenses include losses due to identity theft or fraud; fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or freezing or unfreezing credit; costs to replace IDs; and postage for contacting banks or other institutions.
• Alternate cash payment: Class members who do not submit a documented losses claim may claim a one-time estimated $50 cash payment.
• Credit monitoring: All class members are eligible for two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, including $1 million in financial fraud insurance

How to claim a class action payment

To receive compensation, class members can submit an online claim form or download, print and complete the PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

Required proof or documentation

• Class members claiming out-of-pocket losses must provide documentation, such as receipts, bank statements or other supporting documents. They may submit notes or explanations to explain other evidence.
• No documentation is required to claim an alternative cash payment, but claimants must attest they are a class member and did not claim out-of-pocket losses.
• No documentation is required to claim credit monitoring, but claimants must attest they are a class member.
• Class members using the online claim form must provide the login ID and PIN they received in their settlement notice.
