On February 2, 2024, Silgan Dispensing, a division of Silgan Holdings, experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information of certain individuals. The breach affected at least 19 people in Massachusetts and 2 in New Hampshire, according to official notices filed with state regulators. The types of information exposed in this incident included personally identifiable information (PII) such as Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers. It is not clear from the available disclosures whether any protected health information (PHI) was involved.

The breach was publicly disclosed to the California, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire Attorney General’s offices on April 25, 2025. Silgan Dispensing has not specified the exact method by which the breach occurred, nor have they identified the party responsible for the incident. As of the time of disclosure, there was no evidence of actual or attempted misuse of the compromised information. However, because the exposed data includes highly sensitive identifiers, the potential risk of identity theft is significant.

For more information, you can review the official notices submitted to the Massachusetts Attorney General, California Attorney General, and New Hampshire Attorney General.

Silgan Holdings's response
