Employees who worked as a store manager or assistant store manager for Real Capital Leasing LLC, d/b/a Store Space Self Storage, in Florida, Texas or New England between Oct. 15, 2022, and Oct. 14, 2025, may be eligible to claim a payment from a class action settlement.
Real Capital Leasing LLC agreed to pay $360,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of wage-and-hour laws, including unpaid overtime for store managers and assistant store managers.
Who can file a claim?
The following individuals are eligible to participate in the settlement:
- Current and former store managers and assistant store managers who worked for Store Space in Florida, Texas or New England between Oct. 15, 2022, and Oct. 14, 2025
- Named plaintiffs, defined as the four individuals who filed the lawsuit and held store manager positions from April 1, 2021, through Oct. 14, 2025
- Potential opt-in plaintiffs, meaning store managers or assistant store managers who worked in the covered regions and timeframes, up to a maximum of 199 individuals (including the named plaintiffs)
The settlement administrator will determine eligibility and verify workweeks using Store Space’s employment records.
How much can class members get?
The total settlement fund is $360,000. After deductions for attorneys’ fees and costs, service awards and settlement administration expenses, the settlement administrator will distribute the remaining amount among eligible class members.
The amount each person receives depends on the number of weeks they worked as a store manager or assistant store manager during the covered period. The payment calculation is as follows:
- Each week the class member worked in an eligible position during the relevant period counts as one point.
- The settlement administrator will total the number of points for all claimants.
- It will then divide each individual’s number of points by the total to determine their share of the net fund.
- It will multiple the net fund by this share to calculate each individual’s gross settlement payment.
Named plaintiffs: In addition to their pro rata share, each named plaintiff will receive a $4,000 general release payment, which is subject to court approval.
Potential opt-in plaintiffs: Receive only their pro rata share based on weeks worked

Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged Store Space Self Storage failed to pay overtime wages to store managers and assistant store managers for hours worked off the clock in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other wage-and-hour laws.
Store Space denies any wrongdoing or liability but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation and expenses.
