
Individuals who purchased a lifetime subscription to Rolling Stone magazine and currently reside in the United States may qualify to submit a claim to receive subscriber benefits from a class action settlement.
Penske Media Corp. agreed to pay to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it breached contracts and violated consumer protection laws by discontinuing print delivery for “lifetime” subscribers and switching them to digital editions.
Who can file a claim?
Class members are individuals living in the United States who purchased a lifetime subscription to Rolling Stone.
How much can class members get?
- Class members who do not currently receive the print edition of Rolling Stone can submit a claim to to receive the printed edition of the magazine for as long as they continue to be published during their lifetime and two years of RollingStone.com access.
- Class members who already receive the print edition can submit a claim to receive two years of RollingStone.com access.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive settlement benefits, class members can file a claim online, call 800-552-3632 or send an email to settlement@rollingstone.com.
There is no claim deadline at this time.
Rolling Stone settlement fund breakdown
The settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined
- Attorneys’ fees and costs: Up to $525,000
- Service awards to class representatives: $2,500 each plus printed back issues of Rolling Stone Magazine
- Print subscriptions and digital access: Cost determined by number of claims filed

When will class members receive Rolling Stone settlement benefits?
Rolling Stone will begin print delivery to eligible class members within six to 12 weeks after the settlement administrator approves their claim. It will grant digital access to RollingStone.com within 14 days of claim approval.
Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged Penske Media Corp. and its affiliates breached their contracts with lifetime subscribers by discontinuing print delivery and providing only a digital edition. The plaintiffs also claimed this change violated the California Consumers Legal Remedies Act.
Penske Media Corp. denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and uncertainty of further litigation.
