Individuals who received a notice that the Dec. 30, 2023 Doxim Inc. data incident may have compromised their personal information could be eligible to claim up to $5,000 from a class action settlement.
Doxim agreed to pay $5,500,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a data security incident allowed an unauthorized party to access files containing sensitive information, including names, addresses, financial account numbers and Social Security numbers. The lawsuit claimed Doxim and its credit union clients failed to adequately safeguard this data, resulting in the exposure of private information.
Who can file a claim?
The class includes individuals residing in the United States who received a notice directly from Doxim or one of Doxim's credit union clients informing them the Dec. 30, 2023, data incident may have impacted their private information.
How much can class members get?
Class members can claim several types of benefits from the settlement fund:
- Reimbursement for documented monetary losses: Class members who experienced fraud or identity theft losses that can be reasonably traced to the data incident may claim up to $5,000. This option requires documentation, such as receipts, account statements or correspondence.
- Pro rata cash payment: Class members who do not have documentation of losses or prefer not to provide documentation can claim a one-time pro rata cash payment estimated at $100; the final amount may be higher or lower depending on the number of valid claims.
- Credit monitoring: All class members are eligible to claim one year of free credit monitoring services.
How to claim a class action payment
Class members must submit the online claim form or download and print a PDF claim form, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator. Class members can also request a paper claim form by calling or writing to the settlement administrator.

What proof or documentation is necessary?
- For documented losses, class members must submit third-party proof, such as receipts, account statements or correspondence showing the data incident caused the expense. Another source cannot have reimbursed the losses.
- For the pro rata cash payment or credit monitoring, class members only need to select the appropriate option on the claim form.
- For online claims, class members must enter the login ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.

Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit claimed an unauthorized actor accessed Doxim’s files, exposing sensitive personal information of individuals whose data by Doxim or its credit union clients maintained. The plaintiffs alleged Doxim and its codefendants failed to adequately protect this information.
Doxim dened any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risks and costs of continued litigation.
