
Current and former employees and donors who received written notification stating the OneBlood data breach may have compromised their personal information may qualify to submit a claim for up to $2,500 from a class action settlement.
OneBlood Inc. agreed to pay $1 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a cybersecurity incident exposed private information belonging to certain individuals. The plaintiffs claimed OneBlood failed to adequately protect this information.
Who is eligible for a data breach payout?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- They are an individual whose private information the OneBlood data incident that occurred July 14-29, 2024, compromised.
- They received written notification from OneBlood about the data breach.
How much is the class action settlement payment?
Class members can submit a claim for one of the following payouts:
- Cash Payment A - Documented losses: Class members can submit a claim to receive up to $2,500 for documented, out-of-pocket losses related to the data incident. This includes bank fees, overdraft charges and late fees due to fraud, charges for credit monitoring services, charges for freezing or unfreezing credit, and professional fees for accountants, attorneys or fraud specialists.
- Cash Payment B - Alternate cash: Class members who do not submit a documented losses claim can submit a claim to receive a flat $60 payment.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment, individuals must submit a claim form. Class members have two options:
- Complete the online claim form

Class members must submit an online claim or postmark a mailed claim by the Dec. 4, 2025, deadline.
Required proof and claim information
- All class members must provide the class member ID from their settlement notice to submit a claim.
- Documented loss claims require supporting documentation, such as receipts, bills or other third-party records showing the data incident most likely caused their losses.
Payout options
- Electronic payment (online claims only)
- Paper check mailed to the address provided
$1 million OneBlood data breach settlement fund
The $1,000,000 settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined
- Attorneys' fees: Up to $450,000
- Service awards to class representatives: Up to $1,500 per named plaintiff
- Payments to approved claimants: Remaining settlement funds

When is the OneBlood class action settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will issue payments to eligible claimants approximately 90 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why was there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged a One Blood failed to adequately protect private information, resulting in a cybersecurity incident that occurred July 14-29, 2024, in which an unauthorized third party accessed the sensitive information of certain employees and donors.
OneBlood denied these allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and risk of further litigation.
