Current and former employees and donors who received written notification that their personal information was compromised in the OneBlood data breach, may qualify to submit a claim for up to $2,500 from a class action settlement.

OneBlood Inc. has agreed to pay $1 million to settle a class action lawsuit that was filed after a cybersecurity incident exposed private information belonging to certain individuals. The plaintiffs alleged that OneBlood failed to adequately protect this information.

Who is eligible for a data breach payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

  • They are an individual whose private information was compromised in the OneBlood data incident that occurred between July 14 and July 29, 2024.
  • They received written notification from OneBlood about the data breach.

How much is the class action settlement payment?

Class members can submit for one of the following payouts"

  • Cash Payment A - Documented Losses: Class members can submit to receive up to $2,500 for documented, out-of-pocket losses related to the data incident. This includes bank fees, overdraft charges and late fees due to fraud, charges for credit monitoring services, freezing or unfreezing credit and professional fees for accountants, attorneys or fraud specialists.
  • Cash Payment B - Alternate Cash: Class members that do not submit a documented losses claim can submit to receive a flat $60 payment.

How to claim a class action rebate

To receive a settlement payment, individuals must submit a claim form. Class members have two options:

Claims must be submitted online or postmarked by the deadline of December 4, 2025.

Required proof and claim information

  • Class Member ID from settlement notice required to submit a claim online or by mail.
  • Documented losses claims require supporting documentation such as receipts, bills, or other third-party records showing your losses were more likely than not caused by the data incident

Payout options

  • Electronic payment, only available with online claim submissions
  • Paper check mailed to the address provided

$1 Million OneBlood data breach settlement fund

The $1,000,000 settlement fund will include:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys' fees: Not to exceed $450,000
  • Service awards to class representatives: Up to $1,500 per named plaintiff
  • Payments to approved claimants: Remaining settlement funds

Important dates

  • Deadline to file a claim: Dec. 4, 2025
  • Opt-out deadline: Nov. 9, 2025
  • Final approval hearing: Dec. 9, 2025

When is the OneBlood class action settlement payout date?

Payments will be issued to eligible claimants approximately 90 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.

Why was there a class action settlement?

This class action lawsuit was filed after a cybersecurity incident between July 14 and July 29, 2024, in which an unauthorized third party accessed or potentially accessed private information of certain employees and donors. The plaintiffs claimed that OneBlood failed to adequately protect this information.

OneBlood denied these allegations, but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and risk of further litigation.
