
Consumers who received a notification from Advance Stores Co. Inc. stating their private information might have been compromised in a data breach may qualify to claim up to $5,100 from a class action settlement.
Advance Auto Parts Inc. and Advance Stores Co. Inc. agreed to pay $10,000,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging they failed to adequately protect the personal information of employees, job applicants and others during a data incident involving its cloud computing provider. The breach occurred on or about May 23, 2024.
Who is eligible for an Advance Auto Parts payout?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- They are a person in the United States.
- They received a notification from Advance Auto stating their private information was potentially compromised as a result of the data incident.
The exposed information may include:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Mailing addresses
- Dates of birth
- Driver’s license numbers
- Social Security numbers
- Demographic details
- Other personal information related to employment or job applications
How much can class members get?
- Documented losses: Up to $5,000 per person for documented losses related to the data incident. Class members must submit reasonable documentation of their losses, such as receipts or bills for expenses like identity theft protection or out-of-pocket costs related to the breach.
- CCPA cash payment: California residents who lived in the state between April 14, 2024, and May 24, 2024, may claim an estimated $100 (subject to pro rata adjustment) as recognition of their rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
- Credit and identity monitoring: Two years of Kroll Essential Monitoring, which provides credit and identity monitoring services. Class members who claim credit and identity monitoring cannot claim the alternative cash payment.
- Alternative cash payment: An estimated $100 cash payment (subject to pro rata adjustment). Class members who claim the alternative cash payment cannot claim credit and identity monitoring.
How to claim an Advance Auto Parts class action rebate
Class members can file a claim online or download, print, complete and mail a PDF claim form to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Oct. 8, 2025.

Proof and documentation required
- All class members must provide the class member ID located on their settlement notice. Those who no longer have their notice must contact the settlement administrator.
- For documented loss claims, class members must submit documentation (such as receipts, bills or other records) showing losses related to the data incident. Self-prepared documents alone are not sufficient.

$10 million data breach settlement fund breakdown
The $10,000,000 settlement fund includes:

- Service awards to class representatives: Up to $2,500 each
- Payments to eligible class members: The remainder of the fund

When is the Advance Auto settlement payout date?
Payments to eligible class members will be made approximately 105 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement and any appeals are resolved.
Why was there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged Advance Auto discovered a data incident in May 2024 involving its cloud computing provider. The plaintiffs claimed the breach potentially exposed the private information of more than 2.3 million people. They also said Advance Auto failed to adequately protect this sensitive information.
While Advance Auto denies any wrongdoing, both sides agreed to settle to avoid the expense and uncertainty of further litigation and to provide compensation to those affected.
