Why did this class action settlement happen?
The plaintiffs filed the class action lawsuit after a cyberattack on or about Sept. 28, 2023, potentially exposed private information, including names and Social Security Numbers, of Ampersand’s current and former employees and their beneficiaries. The class action claimed Ampersand failed to adequately protect this information.
Ampersand denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation. The settlement does not admit liability.
