Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged that La-Z-Boy Inc. and Stitch Industries Inc. deceptively advertised discounts on Joybird products, violating consumer protection laws in California, Oregon and Washington. The plaintiffs claimed the companies misrepresented the nature and extent of discounts on their website and in stores.
The defendants denied all allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risks and costs of continued litigation. The court has not ruled on the merits of the claims.
