Job seekers who applied for a job with Target Corp. in Washington between Jan. 1, 2023, and July 26, 2025, in which the job posting did not include a wage scale, salary range or benefits information may be eligible to claim an estimated $1,711.93 or more from a class action settlement.

Target Corp. agreed to pay up to $2.2 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it failed to include required pay and benefits information in job postings for positions in Washington state. The lawsuit claimed Target violated Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunities Act by not disclosing wage or salary ranges and benefits in its job postings.

Who can file a claim?

Class member must meet all of the following criteria:

  • They applied for a job opening with Target Corp. in the state of Washington between Jan. 1, 2023, and July 26, 2025.
  • The job posting did not disclose the wage scale or salary range for the position.
  • The job posting did not include a general description of benefits or other compensation.

The settlement administrator is using Target’s record to identify eligible class members. If an individual received a notice about the settlement, it means Target’s records indicated they are eligible.

How much can class members get?

The settlement fund has a minimum of $1,463,183.85 and a maximum of $2,225,000. The settlement administrator will calculate the amount each person receives by dividing the net settlement fund (after deducting attorneys’ fees, service awards and administration costs) by the number of valid claims.

Eligible class members who submit a valid claim form by March 31, 2026, will receive an equal share of the net settlement fund up to $5,000. The estimated payment per class member is $1,711.93, but the actual amount may vary depending on how many people submit valid claims.

If fewer than 50% of class members submit claims, the minimum fund applies and the settlement administrator will donate any leftover funds go to designated charities.

If more than 50% of class members submit claims, the settlement administrator will increase the fund by $1,711.93 per additional claimant up to $2,225,000.

If more than 910 people submit claims, the settlement administrator will increase the fund by $2,500 per additional claimant.

If the calculated amount exceeds $5,000 per person, the settlement administrator will donate the excess to the Legal Foundation of Washington and the Washington Employment Lawyers Association.

How to claim a class action payment

Class members can submit the online claim form or download and print the PDF claim form (Page 29 of the settlement agreement) and then mail or email it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is March 31, 2026.
