Why was there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged that the defendants' negligence resulted in valid ticketholders being denied entry to the stadium or, if admitted, being denied full access to stadium facilities or their purchased seats during the 2024 Copa America final match.

The defendants deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of further litigation, and a possible trial.
