Who is Public Relations Society of America?

What happened?

In September 2025, PRSA detected suspicious activity in its computer systems. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor, identified as Sinobi, gained access to PRSA’s server environment and copied a limited amount of data.

The hacking group claimed responsibility and threatened to publish the stolen data on a dark web network in October 2025.

What types of information were exposed?

According to the notice posted on their website, the information exposed includes:

  • Names
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Passport numbers
  • Financial account information
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical condition or treatment information
  • User names and access information for non-financial accounts
  • Student identification card numbers
  • Credit card information (in very limited situations)
