What Happened?

On Oct. 10, 2025, MTI America learned about potential unauthorized access to data stored on its computer network. The company began an investigation, bringing in third-party specialists to assist.

The investigation determined that certain files were potentially accessed without authorization between Sept. 6 and Sept. 9, 2025.

It was later confirmed that the hacking group Sinobi claimed responsibility for the attack, which involved ransomware and was posted on the dark web on Oct. 8, 2025. Sinobi claimed to have obtained 120 GB of data, including financial and customer information, and threatened to publish it.

The company’s internal review, assisted by third-party data specialists, found that the following types of consumer information were exposed:

  • Social Security numbers

MTI America notified affected individuals by mail on Feb. 6, 2026. The breach was also disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
