Terra Holdings, LLC, a leading real estate services company, recently experienced a data breach that has affected individuals in multiple states.
The incident was first detected on Feb. 13, 2025, when Terra Holdings identified suspicious activity on certain systems within its environment. A forensic investigation determined that unauthorized access to files occurred between Feb. 11 and Feb. 13, 2025.
The investigation was not completed until Jan. 26, 2026, when the company could confirm which individuals were affected and what information had been compromised.
The company has filed disclosures with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and the Vermont Attorney General.
The types of information exposed include personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers and financial account details.
The breach impacted at least 143 Massachusetts residents.
To support those affected, Terra Holdings is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Epiq for up to 24 months.
These services include credit file monitoring, VantageScore credit reporting, Social Security number monitoring, dark web surveillance, change of address monitoring, identity restoration assistance and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance. Affected individuals are encouraged to enroll in these services by following the instructions provided in the notification letter.
Given the sensitivity of the exposed information, individuals should remain vigilant by monitoring their financial accounts, reviewing credit reports and considering placing fraud alerts or credit freezes with the major credit bureaus.
The notification letters also provide detailed guidance on steps to take to protect personal information and contact information for relevant consumer protection agencies.
