On July 8, 2025, TELACU Property Management, along with its affiliate TELACU Residential Management, experienced a data breach involving applicants and current and former tenants of housing entities managed by TELACU. An investigation determined that an unauthorized actor attempted to breach the company's internal network.

A review was completed on Nov. 3, 2025 and revealed that names, driver's license numbers and Social Security numbers were compromised in the cybersecurity incident. TELACU began notifying impacted applicants and tenants by mail on Nov. 7, 2025.

The data breach was also disclosed to the California Attorney General on Nov. 9, 2025. This type of incident can put individuals at risk for identity theft and financial fraud.

TELACU Property Management and TELACU Residential Management's response

After discovering the breach, TELACU reviewed policies and procedures involving system security and implemented enhanced network security measures. In addition to required state and federal disclosures, the company is also providing 12 free months of TransUnion Cyberscout single-bureau credit monitoring services to all affected individuals.

If you receive a data breach notice from TELACU Property Management, you may want to:

  • Sign up for the free credit monitoring services, offered by the company.
  • Monitor your credit reports and financial accounts for any unusual activity.
  • Be alert for phishing emails or phone calls that may use your exposed information.
  • Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with major credit bureaus.

Tenants and applicants with questions can also call 1-833-509-2042, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday. The help line will be available through Feb. 7, 2026.
