
ECBM LP, a family-owned, independent insurance brokerage and consulting firm headquartered in Media, Pennsylvania, disclosed a data breach that occurred in October 2024. The breach affected approximately 8,112 individuals in the United States, including 33 Massachusetts residents, eight New Hampshire residents, 33 Indiana residents and one Vermont resident.
ECBM began notifying affected individuals by letter on June 3, 2026.
The types of personal information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers and government-issued identification numbers.
ECBM is providing affected individuals with 24 months of free single bureau credit monitoring, credit report and credit score services through Cyberscout. In addition to credit monitoring, ECBM is offering proactive fraud assistance to help individuals who have questions about the incident or who become victims of fraud as a result of the breach.
To enroll in the free services, affected individuals can visit the Cyberscout enrollment page and enter the unique code included in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the letter.
ECBM's letter also included guidance on placing fraud alerts and credit freezes with the three major credit reporting bureaus as additional measures to protect against identity theft.
ECBM has set up a dedicated toll-free phone line at 1-833-877-5452 for anyone with questions about the incident that are not addressed in the notification letter. The line is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, excluding major U.S. holidays.
