Willis-Knighton Medical Center Patient Privacy Settlement

Willis-Knighton Medical Center patient portal account holders or those who requested to schedule an appointment online between Jan. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, 2023, may qualify to claim a cash payment and one year of free privacy protection from a class action settlement.

Willis-Knighton Medical Center agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it allowed the unauthorized transmission of personally identifiable, nonpublic medical information and communications to Facebook and Google through its website and patient portal.

Who can file a claim?

Class members must meet one or more of the following criteria:

They held an InteliChart patient portal account through Willis-Knighton Medical Center.
They held a Meditech patient portal account through Willis-Knighton Medical Center.
They made a request to schedule an appointment online with Willis-Knighton Medical Center between Jan. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, 2023.

The settlement administrator sent notices were to those it identified as class members, but if anyone believes they qualify and did not receive a notice, they can still submit a claim.

How much is the WKMC payout?

Each class member who submits a valid claim is eligible for a cash payment. The exact amount will depend on the number of valid claims and the subclass the class member qualifies for as indicated in the notice they may have received.

In addition to the cash payment, all class members can receive one free year of enrollment in CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, which provides privacy protection services.

If the number of valid claims exceeds the available funds after all settlement costs, the settlement administrator will reduce payments to class members on a pro rata basis.

How to claim a class action payment

Class members can file the online claim form or download, print, complete and mail the appropriate PDF claim form for their subclass and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Dec. 18, 2025.

Class members who received a notice with an activation code for CyEx Privacy Shield Pro can enroll at https://privacyshield.cyex.com/enrollment/WKMC. Those who did not receive a code or lost it should contact the settlement administrator for assistance.

Required information

To file an online claim, class members must log in with the unique ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received. Those who are unable to locate their ID and PIN should contact the settlement administrator by emailing info@WKMCDataSettlement.com or calling 844-496-0931 and providing their full name and mailing address.

$2.1 million settlement fund breakdown

The $2.1 million settlement fund includes:

Service awards to class representatives: $5,000 each for three representatives ($15,000 total)
