Why did this class action settlement happen?
This class action lawsuit claimed a targeted cyberattack on Urban One’s computer systems in March 2025 resulted in unauthorized access to files containing private information belonging to current and former employees. The plaintiffs alleged Urban One failed to adequately protect this information, leading to potential identity theft and other risks for affected individuals.
Urban One denies the allegations but agreed to settle the lawsuit to avoid the expense and risk of continued litigation.
