Consumers who purchased or leased a 2013–2016 Range Rover Evoque, 2015–2017 Discovery Sport or 2013–2015 Land Rover LR2 may be eligible to claim up to $12,000 from a class action settlement.
Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC agreed to a settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it sold or leased certain vehicles with defective turbochargers. The lawsuit claims these defects could cause premature turbocharger failure and, in some cases, engine damage, resulting in significant repair costs for owners and lessees.

How much can class members get?
The settlement provides two main types of benefits: reimbursement for certain out-of-pocket repair costs and extended warranty coverage for future repairs. The amount each eligible class member receives depends on the age and mileage of their vehicle at the time of repair or diagnosis.
- Turbocharger repair or replacement reimbursement: Up to $3,750
- Engine repair or replacement reimbursement (if turbocharger failure caused engine damage): Up to $12,000
The settlement administrator determines the percentage of reimbursement using the following criteria:
- Turbocharger reimbursement:
- 100% if the vehicle was less than 8 years old and had fewer than 80,000 miles at the time of failure
- 60% if the vehicle was 9 years old or less and had fewer than 90,000 miles at the time of failure
- 50% if the vehicle was 10 years old or less and had fewer than 100,000 miles at the time of failure
- Engine reimbursement:
- 100% if the vehicle was less than 8 years old and had fewer than 80,000 miles at the time of failure
- 30% if the vehicle was 9–10 years old and had fewer than 100,000 miles at the time of failure
Additional information
- The settlement administrator will only reimburse out-of-pocket costs (subtracting any goodwill or other reimbursements the class member received).
- Repairs must not be due to collision, vandalism, failure to maintain or abuse.
- The turbocharger or engine must be original equipment unless the vehicle previously received a replacement brazed scroll turbocharger.
Warranty extension
If the vehicle qualifies, class members may receive an extended warranty for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles from the vehicle’s original in-service date with the same age and mileage thresholds and reimbursement percentages as above. This warranty covers future repairs or replacements authorized Land Rover retailers perform.

Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged Land Rover sold or leased certain vehicles with defective turbochargers, which could fail prematurely and sometimes cause engine damage. The plaintiffs claimed owners and lessees incurred significant costs to repair or replace these parts.
Jaguar Land Rover denied any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of further litigation and to provide benefits to affected vehicle owners.
