
Consumers who received a clinical adherence call from OptumRx Inc. on their cell phone or VOIP line between April 20, 2020, and Oct. 22, 2025, and were not an OptumRx customer or account holder may qualify to submit a claim to receive an estimated $72 to $135 from a class action settlement.
OptumRx Inc. agreed to pay $1.86 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it placed certain clinical adherence calls using an artificial or prerecorded voice to noncustomers without their prior express consent, potentially violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The settlement class includes an estimated 155,244 unique telephone numbers.
Who can file a claim for a TCPA payout?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- They received a clinical adherence call (not a prescription refill reminder or COVID-19 vaccine call) from OptumRx or on its behalf.
- They received the call on a number assigned to a cellular telephone or VOIP service.
- The number was not assigned to an OptumRx customer or account holder at the time of the call.
- The call used, or was made using, an artificial or prerecorded voice.
- They received the call between April 20, 2020, and Oct. 22, 2025.
Who is excluded from the class?
- Anyone who was an OptumRx customer or account holder at the time of the call
- Anyone who only received calls regarding prescription refill reminders or COVID-19 vaccines
How much is the class action settlement payout?
Pro rata cash payment: Each eligible class member who submits a valid claim will receive a payment estimated between $72 and $135. The settlement administrator will determine the final payment amount by the total number of valid claims filed.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment, class members must file a claim online or download and print the PDF claim form to mail to the settlement administrator.

Required claim information

The $1,860,000 settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: Estimated $207,750
- Attorneys’ fees: Up to an estimated $580,410
- Attorneys’ expenses: Up to $40,000
- Service award to named plaintiff: Up to $10,000
- Payments to approved claimants: Remaining settlement funds

When is the OptumRx TCPA settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will issue payments to class members with valid claims approximately 60 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged that OptumRx Inc. violated the TCPA by placing certain clinical adherence calls using an artificial or prerecorded voice to noncustomers without their prior express consent.
OptumRx denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the time, uncertainty and cost of continued litigation.
