Strides Pharma Testosterone Gel Benzene Settlement
Strides Pharma Testosterone Gel Benzene Settlement

Consumers who purchased testosterone gel manufactured by Strides Pharma Inc. for personal or household use in the United States between June 1, 2022, and July 31, 2025, may be eligible to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.

Strides Pharma Inc. agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging its testosterone gel contained excessive levels of benzene, a chemical classified as a human carcinogen. The plaintiffs claim the benzene presence rendered the product economically worthless or worth less than what consumers paid.

Who can file a claim?

Class members must meet the following requirements:

  • They are a natural person (not a business or organization).
  • They purchased Strides testosterone gel for personal or household use.
  • They purchased the gel in the United States between June 1, 2022, and July 31, 2025.

How much can class members receive?

The amount a class member can receive depends on when they purchased the Strides testosterone gel and how much they paid out of pocket for each prescription.

  • Purchases from Jan. 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025: 100% reimbursement of out-of-pocket payments per prescription
  • Purchases from Jan. 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2024: 75% reimbursement of out-of-pocket payments per prescription
  • Purchases from June 1, 2022, to Dec. 31, 2023: 40% reimbursement of out-of-pocket payments per prescription
  • Minimum payment: For any prescription in which the class member's out-of-pocket payment was less than $3.50, the settlement administrator will set the baseline to $3.50 and adjust it by the percentage for the purchase date.

If the total value of all approved claims is less than $750,000, the settlement administrator will distribute the remaining funds pro rata among claimants based on the value of their claims. If the total value of claims exceeds $750,000, each claimant will still receive the calculated reimbursement amount as described above.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleges Strides Pharma Inc. manufactured and distributed testosterone gel containing benzene, a substance classified as a human carcinogen. The plaintiffs claim the presence of benzene made the product unlawful to sell and economically worthless, resulting in financial loss to purchasers.

Strides denies these allegations but agreed to settle the case to avoid the expense, risk and delay of further litigation. As part of the settlement, Strides also reformulated its product and agreed to ongoing testing to ensure future products do not contain benzene above regulatory limits.
