
Hancock Health patients who logged into their patient portal account at any time from Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2023, may qualify to claim a $25 cash payment and/or Privacy Shield Pro from a class action settlement.
Board of Trustees of Hancock Regional Hospital, doing business as Hancock Health, agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it disclosed confidential personally identifiable information and/or protected health information to third-party technologies without patient consent.
Who can file a claim?
Class members must meet all of the following criteria:
- They are or were a patient of Hancock Health.
- They resided in the United States during the relevant period.
- They had a patient portal account with Hancock Health.
- They logged into their patient portal account at least once between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2023.
How much can class members get?
Each eligible class member who submits a valid claim form will receive a $25 cash payment.
In addition to the cash payment, all class members are eligible to enroll in the Privacy Shield Pro product at no cost. They will receive the enrollment code regardless of whether they submit a claim for cash compensation.
How to claim a class action payment
Class members can complete the online claim form or download, print and fill out the PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Dec. 1, 2025.

Is proof or documentation required to submit a claim?
To file an online claim, class members must log in with their notice ID and PIN located on the settlement notice they received. Those who are unable to locate their ID and PIN should contact the settlement administrator by emailing info@HHSettlement.com or calling 833-417- 4916 and providing their full name and mailing address.

Settlement fund breakdown
The settlement fund covers:
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined
- Attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses: Up to $507,493.10
- Service awards to class representatives: $3,500 each ($7,000 total)
- Costs for privacy monitoring: Determined by the amount of valid claims
- Payments to eligible class members: $25 per valid claim

When is the Hancock Health settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will send payments to approved claimants within 14 days after the settlement receives final court approval.
