If you currently own or have previously purchased a Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper, you may be eligible to claim between $10 and a full refund from a class action settlement.

Fisher-Price, Inc. and Mattel, Inc. have agreed to pay $19 million to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged false advertising and safety misrepresentations regarding the Rock ‘n Play Sleeper.

This settlement follows a voluntary recall of the product due to safety concerns.

Who can submit a claim?

The settlement class includes individuals in the United States and U.S. territories who either purchased a Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper or currently have one in their possession.

  • Current Owners: Those who currently own an RNPS and can provide proof of disablement.
  • Previous Owners: Those who purchased a new RNPS but no longer own it.
  • Recall Participants: Those who returned the RNPS hubs and received a voucher or toy.

Specific models included in the settlement can be found in the document titled Appendix A - Models of Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleepers.

How much can class members get?

The amount class members can claim varies based on their circumstances:

  • Returned RNPS Hubs: $10 per RNPS.
  • Current Owners: Up to the purchase price if proof is provided; otherwise, $40-$60 based on the manufacturing date.
  • Previous Owners: $10-$35 based on proof of purchase and purchase date.

Payment Tiers:

  • For Current Owners:
    • With proof of purchase
      • Purchased between October 12, 2018, and April 12, 2019: Full purchase price.
  • Without proof of purchase
    • Purchased between October 12, 2018, and April 12, 2019: $60.
  • Purchased or manufactured between April 12, 2017, and October 11, 2018: $50.
  • Purchased or manufactured on or before April 11, 2017: $40.
  • For Previous Owners:
    • Purchased new between April 12, 2017, and April 12, 2019, with proof: $35.
    • Purchased new on or before April 11, 2017, with proof: $25.
    • Purchased new without proof: $10.

If the award amount is subject to a net settlement fund calculation, it will be adjusted accordingly. For instance, if claims exceed the allocated funds, payments will be reduced on a pro-rata basis.

Is proof of purchase required for compensation?

Claimants must provide proof of purchase or proof of disablement to claim a full award. Proof of disablement includes photographs showing the RNPS liner and pad cut and detached, with the claimant's Unique Claimant ID written on the fabric.

  • For Current Owners: Proof of disablement is mandatory
  • For Previous Owners: Proof of purchase is required for higher compensation
  • For Recall Participants: Proof of participation in the recall is needed

If no proof of purchase is provided, the amount of the cash benefit is greatly reduced.
