Dental Group of Amarillo LLP has agreed to pay $1,000,000 to settle a class action lawsuit that alleged the company failed to adequately protect patient data during a cyberattack. This incident exposed sensitive information, including names, contact details, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and health-related records.
Who is eligible for a data breach settlement payment?
Class members are current and former patients residing in the United States who received a notice from Dental Group of Amarillo LLP (DGA) that your private information may have been impacted by the Oct. 26, 2023 data breach.
How much is the class action payment?
Class members have the following benefit options:
- Credit monitoring services: Class members can select to receive three years of three-bureau credit monitoring which includes dark web scanning with notification, public record monitoring, medical identity monitoring and identity theft insurance.
- Cash Payment A - Documented Losses: Claimants can submit for up to $5,000 in actual, documented out-of-pocket losses due to the data breach. Qualifying monetary losses and expenses include bank or credit card fees including overdraft and returned check fees, cost to replace driver's license, Social Security card and other types of identification, fees for credit reports, monitoring or freezing/unfreezing and financial losses due to identity theft or fraud.
- Cash Payment B - Flat Cash Payment: Class members that do not submit a cash payment A documented losses claim may submit for a one-time cash payment of $125.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit claim form by the deadline of Oct. 13, 2025. Individuals can file a claim online or download a PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

$1 Million data breach settlement fund
The $1,000,000 settlement fund will cover:
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined
- Attorneys' fees: Up to $333,333
- Attorneys' expenses: To be presented to court for approval at a later date
- Service awards to class representatives: $2,500 each
- Credit monitoring: Cost determined by the number of claims filed
- Payments to approved claimants: Remaining settlement funds

When is the Dental Group of Amarillo settlement payout date?
Payments will be issued to valid claimants approximately 60 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why was there a class action lawsuit and settlement?
The class action lawsuit was filed after a targeted cyberattack on Dental Group of Amarillo LLP’s computer systems on Oct. 26, 2023. The breach exposed files containing sensitive personal and health information.
The plaintiffs alleged that DGA failed to adequately protect this data. DGA denies any wrongdoing, but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and uncertainties of continuing litigation.
