Anixter Center Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals who received a notice that the July 2023 Lester and Rosalie Anixter Center data breach may have compromised their personal information could be eligible to claim up to $5,052.50 from a class action settlement.

The Lester and Rosalie Anixter Center agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a data security incident allowed unauthorized individuals to access files containing personally identifiable information. The lawsuit claimed Anixter Center failed to adequately safeguard this data.

Who can file a claim?

Eligible class members must have received a direct notice from Anixter Center indicating the cyberattack may have accessed their personal information. This notice serves as confirmation of eligibility to participate in the settlement.

How much can class members get?

Qualified class members may claim several types of awards, depending on their circumstances and the impact of the data breach:

• Reimbursement for documented monetary losses: Class members who experienced fraud or identity theft losses that can be reasonably traced to the data incident may claim to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between July 17, 2023, and Oct. 19, 2026. Eligible expenses include:
• Losses due to identity theft or fraud
• Fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or freezing/unfreezing credit
• Costs to replace identification documents
• Postage to contact banks by mail

• Lost-time reimbursement: Up to three hours at $17.50 per hour ($52.50 maximum) for time spent responding to the data incident. Eligible activities include:
• Changing passwords
• Investigating suspicious account activity
• Researching the data incident

• Alternative cash payment: A one-time $50 payment for those who do not wish to claim expense or lost-time reimbursement
• Credit monitoring: All class members are eligible for one year of CyEx Identity Defense Complete, which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, real-time credit monitoring, dark web scanning and public records monitoring.

How to claim a class action payment

To receive compensation, eligible class members must submit the online claim form or download and print the PDF claim form, complete it and mail or email it to the settlement administration. Claimants can request a paper claim form by contacting the settlement administrator.

Is proof or documentation required to submit a claim?

Documentation is required for certain types of claims:

• For documented losses, class members must submit third-party proof, such as bank statements, receipts or other evidence of losses showing the data breach caused the expense. Self-prepared notes or explanations can supplement, but not replace, this documentation.
• For lost-time reimbursement, claimants must describe how they spent their time responding to the data incident.
• For the alternative cash payment or credit monitoring, class members only need to select the appropriate option on the claim form.
• For online claims, class members must enter the login ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.

When is the Anixter Center payout date?
